Lian Dodd is a Landscape Artist who draws inspiration from the Scottish Highlands, particularly the Cromarty Firth, working primarily in Acrylic and Oil.
Incorporating Earth Pigments and wild materials within her paintings and using foraged tools to carve and shape the paint upon the canvas. She allows nature to shape her artwork, matching the vibration of the land so that it resonates with the observer and opens a powerful connection with the Earth.
Lian captures how the Earth moves, feels, loves and remembers and reminds us we are one, not separate. She wants to ground the viewer to the Earth, initiating a deep-rooted connection to wild landscapes.
Represented by galleries in Scotland, she is happy to be able to share her work, offering original artworks and prints for sale.
Lian Dodd was born in East London and grew up in London and Kent. Despite this she has always had a strong connection to nature and wildlife. Rural landscapes have always resonated with her.
In 2018 she moved to the Scottish Highlands, just North of Inverness. As soon as she relocated, she found the wild landscape a catalyst for her creativity.
This spectacular area provides the perfect place to focus on her love of art and the outdoors. Lian’s art career has grown as a direct response to her surrounding environment.
Lian creates simplified abstract landscapes by removing detail to capture the essence of a place. She invites the viewer to connect to the land through her work and to use her art to access their own memories of visits to wild and invigorating places.
